Not only will you find lots of OBEY merchandise, but this unique pop-up shop is showcasing album cover art of Shepard Fairey --- "Party At The Moontower". Shepard is the world-renowned American artist who created Obey Giant and inspired the Obey Clothing brand.

Two boxed sets were created for the REVOLUTIONS show that took place in Santa Monica, California, which ended on April 23, 2011. Only 150 of the boxed sets have been released. Fortunately, we have one set in the Obey pop-up shop, including 36 signed and numbered screen prints, stencil, sticker sheet and a certificate of authenticity! 2011 MISHKA x REBEL8 Collaboration

Continuing from our previous reports, New York streewear brand Mishka and San Francisco tattoo design-inspired brand REBEL8, team up together to rock the second collaborative t-Shirt – Lamour.

This art was originally created by artist Lamour Supreme. It has a sinister-looking hand with a death grip on a large eyeball. But this isn’t just any eyeball, because it has the REBEL8 logo for its pupil … which makes the eyeball serve double duty as an 8 ball. Available in black only.

As the distributor for both brands in Taiwan and Thailand, Lula Apparel will release this collection exclusively to select stores in these two territories in mid-December in limited edition.

GRANT TAYLOR X 2011 THRASHER SKATER OF THE YEAR!

Skater of the Year is an annual event given by Thrasher Magazine. The event started in 1990, and it has become one of the most respected awards in the skateboarding society. Unlike a competition with judges, Skate of the Year is chosen by votes of the Thrasher readers. This Year, the most vote goes to Grant Taylor.

Grant Taylor’s father Thomas was also a pro skater in the 80s. He started a skate shop in 90’s, where Grant was born and raised. Grew up in an environment with skateboards all around the wall, he was closely inspired and participated in the production industry along with his father.

Remy Stratton, a photographer and skateboarder affiliated with Volcom who has met Grant Taylor when he was a young as two years old, cannot help but be amazed. When Grand was six, he was already recognized as a talented skater who was well blending in to the surrounding adults despite his age. Ever since he was little he dares to shred anything that comes up to his path. He has devoted his life into skating, and we are proud to see him entitled the Thrasher Magazine’s Skater of the Year.

Our friend THRASHER MAGAZINE is a publisher for monthly skateboarding magazine found in 1981 by Kevin Thatcher, Eric Swenson, and Fausto Vitello, which carries articles and photographs of skateboarding subjects, as well as designs of clothing and accessories too. Volcom has been heavily inspired by Thrasher in our skateboarding industry, and we are honored to collaborate and bring this limited edition works. Mishka’s D.A.R.T. clothing line and cycling team began in 2008 as a mean of bridging the gaps between New York’s profound love for the fixed gear cycling culture and a need to incorporate clothing specifically geared towards the bicycling enthusiast’s needs. In an effort to group together the most prominent and consistent fixed gear riders, Mishka began sponsoring elite athletes which were at the forefront of the rapidly evolving subculture. D.A.R.T, which stands for Death Adders Road and Track chose John “Prolly” Watson as the team captain for their first ever sponsored team in the U.S. As the sport and Mishka brand continued to evolve and grow in popularity, there was a need to expand the D.A.R.T team outside of its native streets of Brooklyn to bring new innovation and creativity to the exciting sport.

In its quest for scouting talented, passionate riders, sponsoring and hosting bike-related events, creating new and exciting riding gear, and partnering with some of the best in the fixed gear industry, Mishka landed in Taiwan.

Currently on the D.A.R.T Taiwan cycling team are sponsored team riders Cog Wei, Lucas, Wonder, and Kay. Stay tuned for future photos, videos, and events featuring the guys shredding the streets of Taiwan.

Volcom: Japan Recovery Tour

During mid September of few months ago, Volcom US Skate Team collaborated with Volcom Japan Team to perform the Japan Recovery Tour. Right after the US Team arrives at the airport, they met up with the Japan Team and headed straight to Sendai to meet up with the government offical. The aim for the visit is to deliver the 2,500,000 Japanese Yen (approximately 32,000 USD) to Miyagi prefecture. The donation was collected through the Volcom National charity T-shirt Sale, which totaled to almost 100,000 USD. The sum is then trisected and distributed to Miyagi, Fukushima, and Iwate where the damages were severe. Along with the donation, the Skate Tour started.

Mishika’s new Fall 2011 Collection came out recently with a little sexy surprise to the fans. The collection was shot by Rae Threat, starring top pornographic actresses Jessie Andrew(Right)s and Andy San Dimas(Left). Jessie has a full grown attractive body with a contradicting babyish face and an adorable, angle-like smile. Andy, on the other hand, has a very sexy look. She was awarded as the best lady porno performer of this year. Although the collection was rather more of the sexuality than the actual promotion, it is undoubtedly attractive. On top of the seductive sexual appeal, Mishka’s unique designs of their new collection and artistic lighting skill by the photographer definitely make the work worthwhile to see.

All Tomorrow’s Parties, named after a song by the artist The Velvet Underground, is a musical festival known universally to music lovers. This year, the series I’ll Be Your Mirror took place around the world, starting in Tokyo, travelled to UK, and came to Asbury Park, New Jersey on the end of September and early October.

OBEY is honored to participate in the event in doing murals, art shows, and even DJ’ing. Shepard Fairey, our main graphic designer of OBEY, spent one whole week painting a series of murals in downtown Asbury Park, including a 900 square foot “Mount Rush-core,” a collection of portraits of punk-rockstars.

Mishka and cycling have always been a set. Most of the members participate in cycling daily and have gained respect from the riders. Mishika Taiwan is honored to sponsor our Death Adders Road and Track Taiwan – D.A.R.T. Taiwan – Cycling Team. Our cycling athletes are proud to be few of the limited members to participate in the yet-to-be-known new sport. They are motivated to be actively participating to spread the new genre of sport in Taiwan. Mishika will not only support these talented athletes, but will also actively cooperate with the cycling events in Taiwan, in hope to re-define and evolve the sport to the next level.
